Pick the winner, split the pool.

Markets

Every FRC match gets a market with two sides: Red wins and Blue wins. Markets open automatically once The Blue Alliance publishes a match schedule.

Betting

Every contract costs 5 points. Your points go into the pool for the side you pick. When the match ends, everyone who picked the winner splits the whole pool, both sides, in proportion to how much they bet.

The percentages show each side's share of the pool, which is what the crowd thinks will happen. The multiplier is what each point pays if that side wins right now: total pool ÷ that side's pool. The odds keep moving until betting closes, so your final payout depends on the pool at that point.

An example

The pool has 1,240 points on Red and 760 on Blue, 2,000 in all, so Red is at 62% and pays about 1.61x. You bet 20 contracts on Red for 100 points. If nothing else changes and Red wins, the pool is 2,100 with 1,340 on Red, so your 100 points return about 156. If Blue wins, you lose the 100.

Starting odds

So the odds mean something before anyone bets, each pool starts with 100 house points split by Statbotics' EPA prediction (50/50 when there isn't one). The house's share of a payout isn't paid to anyone; it just leaves the game.

Closing and payouts

  • Betting closes 5 minutes before the match's scheduled start (earlier if the event is running ahead, e.g. once the previous qualification match posts its score).
  • Markets settle on The Blue Alliance's official result, a few minutes after it's posted.
  • A tied qualification match, or a result nobody bet on, refunds every bet.
  • Bets placed after a match actually started are refunded, so watching the stream doesn't help.
  • If a match is removed, its teams change, or no result appears, the market is voided and every bet is refunded.
  • There's no selling: once you bet, your points stay in the pool until the match settles.

Points

  • New players start with 1,000 points.
  • Claim 100 free points every day.
  • If you drop below 50 points with no open bets, you can refill to 250 once a day.
  • You can bet up to 2,000 points on any one match.

Points are just for fun. They can't be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money or prizes, and they never will be.
